What is the greatest sin of our age? You may be thinking several different things, but I feel that the greatest sin of our days is the legalized murder of unborn babies. Abortion has claimed 53,000,000 lives of innocent babies since Roe vs Wade in 1973. The law was put into effect in January of 1973. I was born in late December of 1973, so if my mom have chose to abort me I would not be here typing this right now!
So what should we as Christians be doing about this? Definitely more than casting our vote for a pro-life candidate. This is not a political issue, it is a moral issue. We should know by now that simply pushing a button in the voting booth is not going to change the moral compass of this nation. There has been movements of crisis pregnancy centers, prayer vigils outside abortion clinics, and pro life rallies. These things are all good and needed activities, but it is merely a band-aid on this issue. What is needed and what is missing is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Only the Gospel proclaimed and the Holy Spirit working and changing people will put an end to the murder of 3,500 babies each day. We must move beyond the pro-life mentality and seek the abolishment and criminalization of abortion. We must stop calling it an option and call it by what it is, which is murder. We must get over ourselves and put away the politically correct language. You are either going to stand with Christ or with the world. If you stand with Christ then be prepared to lose friends and family. Be prepared to labeled a fanatical, intolerant, bible thumper. Are you with Christ or the world?
Abortion mill ministry has really been placed on my heart and I have to repent of not being more involved. Maybe you are feeling the same way. I hope to give you many resources to get more involved. I try to make evangelism a way of my everyday life. Some days its only being able to hand out a few tracts and others its a very great conversation with an unbeliever or being able to preach in the open air like at the Super Bowl Outreach. My work, kids, wife, and family takes up the majority of my time and I love every minute of it. It is not in God's plan for me to be in any kind of full time ministry right now, but I must use what free time I have for the furtherance of the Gospel. If you are in the same boat as me, then keep reading. There are ways to be more involved in abortion ministry. As I am currently doing, research out killing places in your community, find out who is already out there involved in this type of ministry and get to know them. Find out if they are including the proclamation of the Gospel in their ministry and if they are not I would advise you to thank them for their ministry and then seek out starting your own. The Gospel must be first, foremost, and central to this kind of ministry.
Even if you can only get out there at the abortion mill once a week or once a month, then do it. If your time is so restricted then my best advice is seek out great men and women of the Lord who are involved in more full time or part time abortion ministry and support them. Here are some examples of some great Gospel centered ministries that could use your support right now.
Babies Are Murdered Here is a great ministry that is producing a film about abortion and abortion ministry. If you are unable to get out and labor then please consider supporting this film. Here is their trailer.
AHA or Abolish Human Abortion has been very influential in moving forward the abolishment movement. Visit them here.
Tony Miano is a full time evangelist that spends several days per week outside of abortion mills ministering and proclaiming the Gospel. You can support him here.
Mike Stockwell and Robert Gray are full time evangelist's with Cross Country Evangelism whom I had the pleasure of ministering along side at the Super Bowl Outreach. They are also involved with abortion ministry and you can support them here.
Bobby McCreery is a full time evangelist with To the End of the Earth ministry and you can support him here.
Of course, Living Waters, which has been very influential to me and my growth as a Christian produced the 180 movie. This movie has had over 1 million views just on the Internet. You can watch it below.
There are many other great ministries that I have probably forgotten, so do some research and get involved!
Lastly, I would like to say that if you are reading this and you have had an abortion, please know that I love you. Abortion is NOT an unforgivable sin. God can and will wash the stain of abortion from you. He casts the sins of those that genuinely repent and believe as far as the east is from the west. There is only forgiveness in Jesus Christ. So please do not believe the lie that God could never forgive me because I had an abortion. Repent and believe the Gospel and take your experience and use it for the Glory of God.
Soli Deo Gloria
Steven
